Black chain link fence and gate enclosing a back lawn

CHAIN LINK FENCING

Chain Link Fence Installation in Atlanta & North Georgia

Galvanized and black vinyl-coated chain link for yards, dog runs and commercial sites. The most fence you can get per foot, installed to hold its line.

WHY CHAIN LINK

The honest choice when the fence has a job to do

Nobody picks chain link for the look. They pick it because it encloses more yard per dollar than anything else and it does not ask for maintenance. Three things worth knowing before you buy.

The most fence per foot

Nothing encloses a yard for less. When the job is keeping a dog in or marking a boundary rather than making a statement, chain link does it for a fraction of wood or aluminum.

Black coating changes how it reads

Galvanized mesh announces itself. Black vinyl-coated mesh visually disappears against grass and trees, which is why most of the residential chain link we install now is black.

Up fast, and it stays

Terminal posts in concrete, line posts driven, mesh stretched tight. A standard yard is usually finished in a day, and the galvanizing outlives most of what it encloses.

WHAT WE BUILD

Six chain link builds, and when each is the right call

Galvanized Chain Link

The standard silver mesh. Lowest cost per foot with the longest track record, and the right answer for side yards, utility runs and commercial lots.

Black Vinyl-Coated

The same fence with a bonded black coating. It recedes into landscaping instead of standing out, and the coating adds a layer over the galvanizing.

With Privacy Slats

Slats woven vertically through the mesh. Turns an open fence into a screen without paying for a solid panel.

Dog Runs and Kennels

Smaller enclosures built for animals: tighter mesh, secure latches, and a gate wide enough to get a wheelbarrow through.

Corner and Post Detail

Terminal and corner posts carry all the tension in a chain link fence. Set properly in concrete, they are why the line stays straight.

Top Rail and Tension

A continuous top rail, tension bars at every terminal and mesh pulled tight. This is the difference between a taut fence and a saggy one.

What actually moves the price

Chain link is the cheapest fence we install, which makes the variables below matter proportionally more. The estimate is free and we measure on site.

Linear feet

The run, not the yard. Terminal posts, corners and gates are priced separately because they are where the labour goes.

Height and gauge

Four feet is the residential default. Six feet and a heavier gauge mesh cost more and are worth it where the fence is doing security work.

Coating

Galvanized is the baseline. Black vinyl-coated adds to the foot price and is what most homeowners choose once they see the two side by side.

Gates and terrain

Every gate is its own build. Rock, roots and a falling grade all add posts and time to the schedule.

Chain link questions we get every week

How much does chain link cost compared with wood?

Meaningfully less, usually a fraction per linear foot. That gap is the whole reason chain link exists: it encloses the most yard for the least money. Where it costs you is resale appeal, not performance.

Is black chain link worth the extra?

Most homeowners say yes once they see them side by side. Galvanized reads as industrial; black recedes into the landscaping and barely registers from the house. The coating also adds protection over the galvanizing.

Will it keep my dog in the yard?

For most dogs, yes. For diggers we can run a bottom tension wire or bury the mesh; for climbers we go taller. Tell us the dog and we will build for that dog rather than a generic yard.

Can I add privacy to a chain link fence later?

Yes. Slats weave vertically through existing mesh, and screening fabric ties on. Neither requires taking the fence down, which is a real advantage over solid panels.

How long does chain link last?

Galvanized mesh routinely goes decades. What fails first is almost never the mesh; it is a gate that was hung badly or a terminal post that was not set deep enough in concrete.

Do I need a permit?

Often yes, and the rules differ across Cobb, Fulton and Cherokee. Height limits and corner-visibility rules catch people out. We pull the permit as part of the job.
